I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to post some of my looks from the summer. So right now I am playing catch up! I love to stand out with my style and there is no better time to do such thing than in the bright, hot summer day. I was looking through my closet and I was feeling good and enjoying life so I wanted to express that in my wear! My future is so bright that not only do I have to wear shades but I had to wear the colors and a little pastel too. The funny thing about this outfit is that when I was buying the Lilac Tight Jeans from Old Navy I was under the impression that they were jeans but it actually turned out to be a corduroy material. None the less, I was slightly disappointed but I was able to still rock it because it was not a thick material. I love this look and I hope you love it too! You can get the really cool bodysuit right at YHC Boutique and you are in luck because it is on sale for $45.00 and if you use the code “SUMMERSALE” you can get 5% off! Cat Eye Glasses (Rampage) // SALE! Boom Body Suit (YHC Boutique) // Lilac Tight Jeans (Old Navy) // Neon Shoes- Shoe Republic L.A.
I love “Do It Yourself” projects because not only do I get to express the artist in me, but I also get to create looks that fit my style and nothing is better than owning a couture piece.
This new edition to, “DIY Spotlight” is a great Fall edition to your accessory closet. I love this DIY because it is easy to do, it is a great statement piece, and it will go great with a few outfits in the closet. The star hair-clip has really been making it’s mark on the fashion scene as it has been worn on the runways and you can catch a few celebrities wearing them in their tresses when they hit red carpets.
This tutorial will bring the runway to the streets with this stylish clip.
K-Mart is always looking to catch the eyes of the young fashionistas. They have been appealing to a younger and more urban customer base for their clothing and with the new line that is now making a buzz on the net, they just may be on to something.
Nicki Minaj, the 29-year-old rapping diva, has let the world know through her Instagram, that she is set to release a Fall collection with K-Mart full of form fitting dresses, spandex, edgy patterned patterns, and two-piece suits.
The over-the-top singer/rapper ready to make a statement with her first clothing collection which is set to be released, according to Nicki, stores by October/November.
After reviewing the collection, I have to say I love the colors and patterns! They are very fun and upbeat! Although I don’t know if you would see me in all of these designs because they are a little too tight-fitted for my taste, but I do wish Nicki lots of luck with her line!
Check out the affordable collection featuring Nicki as her own model.
What do you think of the collection? Do you think it will be a success?
Here is a quick update on my busy schedule!
As you may all know Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was all last week starting on September 5th and ending on September 12th. You know the excitement of this time, getting invites, traveling, and of course picking out the perfect outfit!
If you don’t know I will tell you…NY Fashion Week is a BIG DEAL! Many Fashionistas, bloggers, writers, stylist, and anyone who wants to step into the big world of fashion wants to attend these list of week long events and it is a bigger deal to be invited to a Lincoln Center show! Often those who can’t get into the BIG shows at Lincoln Center do what they can to get inside including sneaking in, begging for invites, super dressing in hopes of being seat fillers, etc.
Well I, Tweety Elitou, a 18 year old Fashonista was honored to be invited to the Noon by Noor show at Lincoln Center (NYC) on on Friday, September 6th 2013.
What row do you ask?
Not 4th…not 3rd but 2nd row!
Why such a big deal?
It is such a big deal to me because those who get rows closer to the front of the runway are considered important enough to get good seats. For example, 1st row seats at fashion week for a Fashionista is like getting floor seats at a basketball game for a sports fan.
I was extremely honored to get such great seating because this was my first time attending Fashion Week under my blog “Young Hip & Chic”.
I am not writing this post to brag or to boast but to inspire those who read my blog to continue to strive for excellence and to use your own inspiration and drive to get you to where you want to be.
The Noon by Noor show at Lincoln Center (NYC) on Friday, September 6th 2013 was for the 3rd time a success with well received clothing, celebrity turn outs by VIPs including musician, Solange Knowles and Leigh Lezark and a great audience.
Mercedes Fashion Week once again had a great turnout and I was excited to see yet another one of my favorite designers from the Fall 2013 collection, showing their pieces again. This season designers Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya were inspired by The Tree of Life, a 400 year old natural wonder in their home country, Bahrain that has no water source but seems to survive.
You could see the inspiration that The Tree of Life had on the line with the incorporation of the beautiful floral and leaf prints, lace panels, floral appliques and ornate embellishments.
“Spring 2014 is a continuation on from Resort but this season the collection is more polished and sophisticated with hints of that playfulness from the previous season” states designer, Shaikha Noor.
The line consisting of 30 full pieces was wonderful in my eyes because of its classy, natural, and well-designed clothing for feminine women who like to be youthful, confident and sophisticated. The stylish and delicate pieces where perfect for the Spring of 2014 because it mixes classy with bold prints and colors.
Natural springtime tranquility seemed to be the idea of the new Spring 2014 line and I believe that the long, natural, and effortless beach waves done by celebrity hairstylist, Laurent Dufourg For Prive and soft and natural makeup by celebrity makeup artist, Neil Young And The Mac Pro Team and nails by Keri Blair for MAC Cosmetics was well matched.
The line of beautiful voluminous jackets, classic cuts, pencils skirts and flowing dresses were accompanied by soft and dreamy music by The Misshapes apparently wanting you to be taken into the world of fantasy, which the song repeatedly vocalized.
This line will surely be a hit for the Spring and with flattering cuts and breathable fabric.
Shaikha Haya explains, “In addition to silk, we also like to experiment with leather and luxury skins (such as lambskin). For Resort, we used pink lambskin leather so this season we’ve continued with colored leather, but this time we’re using purple.”
We look forward to more from the evolving designers. Below check out the trends of the collection that I am sure we will see this upcoming Spring 2014:
- Colors: Cream, white, orange, purple, green, midnight blue, blush
- Long ankle length pencil skirts
- Floral prints
- Breathable material
- Maxi Skirts
- Flowing material
- Feminine cuts
- Ankle length dresses
